Canva Code access restrictions

Canva Code is an AI-powered feature that generates codes and lets you create interactive and smart websites. Just enter a prompt and let your vision come to life. However, access to Canva Code might be restricted in certain situations.

Who to contact for help

If you believe you should have access to Canva Code or would like to learn more about why it's unavailable to you, here’s what you can do:

  • For Team or Enterprise members: Contact your team admin to inquire about the feature settings. They’ll be able to provide more information on whether Canva Code can be enabled for your account.
  • For Education users: If you’re part of an educational plan and the feature is unavailable, reach out to your education admin or teacher for clarification and assistance.

Create interactive designs with Canva Code

Canva Code lets you create responsive, interactive designs without the technicality of writing code. You can use Canva Code in two ways:

  1. Create interactive Code designs
    Create full interactive designs like landing pages, dashboards, or portfolios, and edit and publish as websites in the Canva Editor.

    • From the Canva homepage, select Code.
    • Start by describing your design in the Canva AI tab with prompts like “Design an interactive user-friendly exercise tracker.”
    • Alternatively, browse or search for templates to start from.

  2. Add interactive Code elements to your designs
    Create interactive elements like quizzes, calculators, or charts to another design and reuse it across multiple designs.

    • In the Prompt box, describe the interactive Code element you’d like to create and then select Code.

Edit your Canva Code-generated designs

Refine your Canva Code-generated design using the tools in the editor. Check out Edit interactive Canva Code-generated designs and elements to learn more.

Preview and publish your design

Select Preview to interact with your design. Once everything looks good, you can publish it as a website. Learn how to publish and manage Canva Code websites.

Canva Code limitations

  • Canva Code supports all languages available on Canva, except for users in canva.cn.
  • Code can be copied and reused externally, but can't be exported as a file or directly edited within Canva.
  • Regarding commercial use, you own your Input and Output to our AI features (including Canva Code, and the created Canva Codes).

Viewing and copying the code

You can view the underlying code generated by Canva Code and copy it to reuse elsewhere. In your Canva Code thread, turn on the Show code toggle to copy it.
